CBC has gained considerable technical and organizational experience over the years in restoring large monuments, principally in marble and other stone, but also structures made with or incorporating plaster, stucco and brick. Working with experts from related fields we have become specialists at transforming techniques developed for small scale studio and lab work into technologies for large-scale implementation on archaeological and modern monuments. We employ atomised water and low-pressure water sprays for reduction of surface grime, airbrasives and micro-airbrasive tools for fine mechanical work, pneumatic tools for the removal of lime deposits and accretions on monumental fountains, and, more recently, Laser for the selective cleaning of various surfaces. This transferal of techniques used on small objects to the large areas of monumental surfaces ensures that attention is always focused on avoiding stress or damage to the surfaces and their original tool marks.
