The members of CBC have always placed great importance on the study of artistic techniques and the conservation history of the artworks we treat as well as treatment methods and methodologies. Whenever we can, we work towards producing material that can be used in exhibitions, publications and conferences.
We have taken part in research projects field-testing materials for consolidation and protection of stone, wall paintings, plasters and canvas paintings. Some of our most complex treatment projects – such as the Tower of Pisa or the Antonine Column – have included materials testing, while in other cases we have worked on specific testing projects in collaboration with Research Institutes and Universities.
